We would like to formally announce that the Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association is now a Chapter of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Peter Wilderotter, CEO & President of CDRF, has very high regards of the Association and would like us to be a role model for the rest of the chapters in their foundation.

National Press Conference
The press conference was held in the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., yesterday at 10:00AM Eastern. The media received the One Degree of Separation: Paralysis and Spinal Cord Injury in the United States, a national paralysis population survey, before the conference began. The survey is a collaboration effort of University of New Mexico, Center for Development on Disability; Center for Disease Control, and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The Disability Empowerment Center was highlighted and the Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association was announced as the newest Chapter of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Paralysis Community Map
5,596,000 Americans are currently living with paralysis. This is the extraordinary finding of One Degree of Separation: Paralysis and Spinal Cord Injury in the United States, released today by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

No one had any idea that the paralysis community is this large. This means nearly 1 in 50 of all Americans are living with paralysis -- 33% more than previous estimates.

Breakthrough Strategies along with Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is working on a Paralysis Community Map. The object is to add faces to these numbers to show the world who is living with paralysis. So they have created the Paralysis Community Map. The goal is to have one million people who are part of the paralysis community on the map. These include: People living with paralysis, Friends and Family Members, Professional Caregivers, Physicians and Scientists, and Military veterans.
